A couple of notes from the New Zealand Earthquake News Feeds:

"Banks face problem of getting physical cash to earthquake-stranded areas in New Zealand" - Stuff NZ

Always keep as stash of cash at home to use in an emergency., If communication lines are down, so will ATM's, credit card machines and other commerce systems. Keep this cash in smaller bills since making change may not be an option. If you travel it is also important to travel with enough cash to purchase what you need to make your way home...or buy your way out of trouble. How much is getting home to your loved ones worth?

"Update: More than 3 tons of water airlifted to quake-hit Kaikoura, New Zealand, with more planned as shortage expected" - NZ Herald

"Civil defense official says quake-hit Kaikoura, New Zealand, has less than 24 hours of drinking water left; restoring supplies and flying in bottled water top priority" - NZ Herald

Maintain your own water supply so that in a crisis you are not scrambling with everyone else for this precious commodity.

Also have a plan to filter water that comes from questionable sources. In addition to personal water filters, stock a family sized .02 micron water filter system with your preps. Water is one of the most important things you need to survive. Make it a priority in your preparedness plan. It is important to have a plan A, B, and C+ when planning for your water.

Remember, Earthquakes and other disasters/crises can happen anytime, anywhere. Always be thinking....What if...?
